I lived in Queens until I was 14 and within six months living in California the old sod of the Big Apple was just another example of bettering yourself. I loved visiting New York but it took me 20 years after our move for me to even think of returning to the city for a vacation. The only thing I took with me from NYC was that ridiculous accent New Yorkers have, and it took teachers and counselors putting me in speech and drama classes in order to shed that accent.....and I never looked back. |
