I'm talking about civil service, blue collar types that I'm familiar with.These are people who retire much younger than most people. I wouldn't expect them to die so soon after retiring. They don't save enough to retire. They have a defined pension plan. In some cases they sell or inherit a house in a middle-class neighborhood like Glendale, and buy cheaper real estate in another place. For them, one of the main benefits to being retired is that freedom to drink alcohol daily and not worry about being fit for duty. But believe me, they drink all the time. |
