His response to the 1979 energy crisis was lackluster to say the least. The 1980 recession was on his watch. The failure of operation "Eagle Claw" to rescue the Iranian held hostages was a disaster. It was Rising gas prices, gas lines (odd and even days) rising inflation along with skyrocketing mortgage interest rates and rising unemployment ect. all of the above severely damaged confidence in the Carter administration.Simply put, he was in way over his head as Commander In Chief. |
