Part of the European work ethic (spread to their American-born kids). In my neighborhood, the Norwegians, Germans, Italians would be sweeping, tidying up the airyways and stoops and sidewalks every day. About 2-3 times a year, the stoop and airways got scrubbed and soaped down, and fences painted when neede. Now, the Chinese who replaced them luve like pigs, they brought the 3rd World here! |
