The way that works isn’t that they’re comparing it ancient DNA, but they’re comparing it to modern DNA. So if it came back positive for Asian DNA, that would have meant that you and some Asian that got tested have the same ancestor.Ultimately the mongols were many generations ago. A single ancestor of your from 10 generations back would only contribute less than 1‰ of your DNA. It may well be that his DNA is so attenuated in you and all of your 8th cousins that no match still exists. |
