Gaza=Aza. Arabic has a letter called ghayn which doesn’t exist in Hebrew and that sound. It’s transliterated into English as G. Hebrew no longer has a guttural vowel, and so the letter ayin is transliterated without a g sound.

The other example of this phenomenon is Amorah in Hebrew becoming Gommorah in English.

Yemenite Jews pronounce the letter ayin like ghayn and when they say Aza it sounds more like Gaza. Supposedly their Hebrew pronunciation is closer to the original.
