Old school mechanics hated the idea of ethanol in gasoline. Their claim was that ethanol is a solvent and would dissolve fuel line deposits and clog up your fuel filter and carburetor jets. This was noticed mostly in high performance engines as in 350, 383,396 & 427 CI displacements
