So you don’t think Israel should have freedom of religion?Note that Israel’s Law of Return is concerned entirely with heritage and not religion. Leon Trotsky would have been entitled to immigrate to Israel. Albert Einstein (technically a pantheist) was even reportedly offered the Presidency of Israel. Most notably, David Ben Gurion, the first prime minister and widely considered the founder of Israel was also an atheist. The State of Israel was founded as the homeland of the Jewish people, and not necessarily of the Jewish faith. |
