Falling debris from the North Tower struck Tower 7, and sheared away much of the south side of the building. After the collapse of both Towers, WTC 7 was only marginally structurally stable, and burning. FDNY did no further interior firefighting in Tower 7 because it was likely to collapse at any time, and the Department had already lost a significant number of suppression personnel, including almost all of FDNY's top echelon, in the Towers collapses. |
