So, you would have us believe you chose to retire, rather than accept a "promotion", which would have given you higher base pay, AND a higher pension? Do tell.

As for having "no union issues" at your shop, there are all kinds of subtle and not-so-subtle ways to intimidate your subordinates into NOT grieving anything, period.
