Yeah and the drug laws, which most approve of, is ultimately what is causing so many issues in places like LA. Drugs for personal use are (mostly?) no longer a criminal offense so people sit around all day injecting heroin while living in tents. Our local politicians see that and decided that what is needed is to buy all of them new houses, because they believe that housing is a right regardless of any other conditions. So we're spending billions to build permanent housing because our progressive politicians don't support shelters given that housing is a human right. Of course it's the government building them so they're ridiculously expensive and billions doesn't go very far. |
