Nice try. In Biden's testimony on mandatory school busing before the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1977, the President-elect noted that while he was against court-ordered busing to desegregate schools, he wasn't against desegregation itself. Biden just felt desegregation needed to be accomplished in a more uniform manner, and through other initiatives like housing equality.Biden's actual quote, which you conveniently edited, was: "Unless we do something about this, my children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point." It is true that Biden was referring to mandatory busing in this quote, but as USA Today and the NYT both point out, "However, the claim that Biden said 'I don't want my children to grow up in a jungle, a racial jungle' is false. There is no evidence Biden made that particular remark. Biden also testified that forced busing would be detrimental to the "ultimate objective of seeing that we get integrated neighborhoods, of seeing that we eventually eliminate job discrimination, of seeing that we change housing patterns, of seeing alteration of the tax structure."
