This is what Trump meant: be ready to carry out further instructions.

This has been the near-universal interpretation of Trump's words. Why couldn't Trump say, "I do not support white supremacists or their 'militias', because that's not what America is about"?Instead, he dodged the question and enabled the Proud Boys.

This is as clear an indication of which side Trump supports, as he could possibly give in a public forum.
