The out-of-towners I know generally report that they find New Yorkers to be far more friendly than they expected -- once you engage them. If you don't go out of your way to engage them, most New Yorkers will pass you right by. In other parts of the country there are many friendly people who don't wait to be engaged. In New York, we call those people nuts. |
