When I bought this house in 1984, I regretted it the first saturday night we were here. The noise from Islip Speedway was nerve-wracking. Fortunately, Islip raceway ceased operation in that year and now it's been relatively tranquil for the last 20+.No offense, but you DID know it was there before you bought the house, no? I find a problem when people complain about something that was there before they move in. Such as people in Cedarhurst complaining about the trains rumbling through their community, trains that have been rumbling through for 100 years. Or the people in Yaphank in fancy new subdivisions complaining about the shooting range that has been there from day one, or the people out east in fancy subdivisions complainging about the irrigation sprinklers going on in the middle of the night, or the tractors starting up at 4:00 in the morning on farms that have been there for long before they were. |
