It's not so much a problem with new york, it's idiots in houses. They will protest the world on grounds of imaginary "traffic". You can't build a wal-mart, or eckard in a neighborhood because of "traffic".I took a course in Urban Studies back when I was in college. The teacher was a nationally recognized authority in the field. One of the first things he told us was that whatever the stated purposes or goals of zoning rules, land-use restrictions and growth limitations may be, the only real goal was to enhance the value of single-family houses.
