HIV and AIDS are not the absolute death sentences they were 40 years ago. People with HIV/AIDS are now living into old age with proper care and treatment. I personally know several people who have been HIV+ for 25-30 years. Untreated HIV or AIDS is indeed almost 100% fatal, but so are other bloodborne pathogens, if they aren't treated. |
