First of all, a hostile takeover of Facebook is almost impossible.

Second, if management becomes too heavy-handed, users and advertisers will revolt and/or abandon the site, like they did at Tumblr, Reddit, and Digg.

These are cases where the free market succeeds. No government involvement is necessary.
