Well, the question is actually a larger one - can a Jewish person oppose Israel and not be considered a self-hating Jew?I don't believe so. Israel is and always has been part of our identity. But Bernie Sanders doesn't actually oppose Israel. I don't believe that supporting a so-called "two state solution" is anti-Israel. Supporting this is hardly a "threat to Israel." He didn't compare it to Saudi Arabia, he compared our relationship with Israel with the one with Saudi Arabia. An extreme comparison, but his point was that support does not mean 100% agreement. I only support Netanyahu to the extent that I find most Palestinian wounds to be self-inflicted and I see nothing coming from any left-wing oriented talks. |
