Affirmative action is no privilege, it is an attempt to correct the harmful effects of institutionalized, societal racism.Jussie's case is also no example of "Black privilege", because it's not demonstrable that his race conferred special treatment upon him. You may argue that his wealth allowed Jussie to obtain superior legal counsel--the old canard that our justice system treats rich, guilty defendants better than poor, innocent ones is generally true--but I seriously doubt Jussie enjoyed any advantage in being Black and gay. Those two attributes are almost universally detrimental to anyone fighting a criminal case in America. |
