Still similar. No one watches your home when you're away just like no one watches the fence. Neither are effective in stopping anyone. Criminals/migrants are forced to be ever so slightly more creative. Yet people install fences to feel safer.

To continue the analogy, what we need to do at the border after building the wall is to release about 10 million pit bulls. That would do the trick.
