While true, I really don't want them making overt efforts to solve that problem. The only way to catch more of them is some combination of "papers, please" and exit checkpoints, neither of which is a good thing. One of the few ways North American international air travel is superior to the way things are done on other continents is the lack of an exit checkpoint - I can transfer from a domestic to an international flight with no need for a long layover because there's no unpredictable line standing in the way of the transfer. I'm not sequestered in a tiny international departure zone while the rest of the airport's shops and services cater to domestic travelers (I'm looking at you, Seoul-Gimpo). |
