Most "current regs" are based on CO2 emission, which is absurd.

VW eventually got their "Wasserboxer" right in the Porsche cars. No reason why they ought to go with all those inline fours these days, especially all the turbocharged ones. An updated Type 1 could be produced for far less than VW bosses admit.
