What's it done except suck away money from the taxpayer, and created "kings' lands" that "belong" to the federal government and not the people?

It sure has gone far afield from its original intent with respect to natives of the original contiguous 48 plus Alaskans and (later) Hawaiians.

It didn't get the derisive nickname "Department of Everything Else" for no reason.
