It was begun in 1970 when our waterways and air were polluted. Nobody was trying to "destroy capitalism" but rather clean up the environment which was quite polluted at the time. The Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act were also passed in 1970 so you can see it was nationwide sensibility. |
