The Muslim slavers were already trading slaves in W.A. by the time of European contact. Warring tribes sold their prisoners as slaves to the slavers. I know that there's lots of people who want to think that the mean old white man is the only person responsible for the transatlantic slave trade, but there are several actors, to be honest. Anyway, my regional thread is about civilizations and that some are more advanced than others, not slavery. |
