Just take the NY Waterway and take it to Port Imperial. Its really easy. I just tried riding the NY Waterway from Port Imperial to Pier 79 on 39th St. Mnahattan and its pretty good. And the light rail is right across the street from the Port Imperial Terminal, the only think is that you have to cross a highway because the overpass isn't done and won't be for a while. And their buses are free in Manhattan so its pretty good. Just wish that it wasn't 6 bucks for one way, 3-4 bucks would be great for the fare. But buses leave the PABT all the time and goes around Weehawken so you have wide options.
