There are elderly couples living in Middle Village still?

Yes.

I'd say without them, there would be no Our Lady of Hope on Eliot or St. Margaret's(I don't know the street). And what little is left of the local Lutheran community would be elderly or older middle aged.

Their property will be confiscated so that families with kids can live in a proper setting, not crammed in to a roach infested 1BR on top of Taco Veloz on Roosevelt Ave.
