Yes, Carter blew a lot of chances to get things done.He never referred to a great malaise - that's a fabricated quote. And economists unfortunately weren't knowledgeable enough then to figure out how government policy could get the country out of stagflation. God forbid anything as serious as that comes up during the trump administration - the economists he would rely on are just as ignorant as Carter's economists were, even though economics has made 40 years of useful advances. |
