Took it to mean that you were saying the holiday itself was made up.

Maybe you're like a Karaite, it says matza and nothing else. I find it interesting that rabbinical analysis of the bible is almost akin to that of interpreting the constitution or law. The amount of detail and analysis is some serious stuff.
