That's very true.Abiotic oil is one of those wish fulfilment fantasies that just ends up revealing the motivations behind the crank who espouses. If you're a Soviet scientist in the 1970s and 80s then it's in your best interest to tell the local party apparatchik that the commodity which sustains your nation's otherwise massive trade imbalance is not running out like those Western countries think. And these days if you're a monarchist Trumpet reader with a Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God religious bent who desperately needs to justify your exurban lifestyle against anyone who dare question it, then abiotic oil is the answer to your (undoubtedly many) prayers. After all, it's just God providing for His people, so Drill Baby, Drill! Funny how defiling the Heaven and Earth that the almighty created never quite seems to be regarded as blasphemy. |
