If I have assets worth $100,000 and liabilities of $99,950, with a net worth of only $50 I'm going to qualify for a public defender. Even though Bundy owns assets, if his liabilities (loans, etc.) are close in value to the value of those assets, then he might qualify for a federal PD. |
