The book that those goals were first written in, The Naked Communist, pointed out that “(w)e are in an ideological war”. There are many clues to the effect that the GOP was “capture(d)” longer ago than people might suppose, Nixon’s actions while president the least among them (creating Amtrak instead of deregulating railroads, creating OSHA, EPA and the like, et al), and of course the establishment’s treatment of Reagan in the 1976 general election cycle. |
