Before the Jewish-Italian Exclusion Act of 1921, anyone who wanted to live in the US, was healthy and not a criminal simply booked passage and had to be inspected. Nowadays legal immigration is very limited. These people don't come here illegally out of an inherent disrespect for our laws, but because they have no other choice. |
