The IAF has the toolsThat claim has repeatedly been made despite being demonstrably untrue if we constrain the scenario to conventional weapons. The only way that Israel may be able to permanently disable Iran's nuclear ambitions is through the use of their own nuclear arsenal. But if you think Israel is unwilling to deal with the political fallout from a unilateral conventional strike on Iran then a nuclear strike is absolutely unthinkable and the claim that Israel has the capability to attack Iran's nuclear facilities is little more than worthless propaganda. But then the last thing the Likud party wants to do is anything to actually address the Iran nuclear threat, that's why this is such a "bad" deal. Iran's nuclear program is a wedge issue for them, just like abortion, carbon limits, gun control, illegal immigration, or social security. They can use it to keep their political message at the forefront and get screentime for their cause so that the ultimate result is in their favor. But the worst thing that could happen would be for them to get that result because then the debate would wrap up and they'd have to fight to get that same screentime. It's only a bad deal because it threatens to move Israel's hyperbolic overblown rantings about Iran's nuclear program from the forefront. |
