You're probably brown and definitely not European and you claim you're white. I'm brown and I'm not European and you have no trouble admitting I'm white. HOW can he be white? Because society says he's white. That's what the term means. The "white race" is a social construct— it only exists to the extent that people say (and act like) it exists and it means whatever people say (and act like) it means. Society says Zimmerman is white, therefore Zimmerman is white. Note that when I say Zimmerman is white, I'm using the actual definition of "white" not the made-up Bill Brooklyn definition where "white" is some mythical race of people that don't trace their ancestry back to Africa. I've got bad news in that regard— Piltdown Man was a hoax. I guess you also think that BHO is white as well? Why on Earth would you think that? Oh, because you don't understand what the terms "black" and "white" mean. That turned out to be an easy question. OK, back to basics. Define "race." |
