If the tax was paid via PAYE, it likely would be creditable in the year paid. If, however, it is a payment on business or investment income, there is a risk the IRS will treat the payment as a "voluntary" tax payment, and only allow the credit when the tax year is over and the amount finalized.If I had to put odds on it, I'd say that it's not "more likely than not" that the credit would be allowed in the year paid. subfan |
