What you pay up front is double but you get half of it back in the way of tax deductions, so the net cost at the end of the year is almost identical.You get considerably less than half of it back in reduced tax. Roughly half of it becomes a deduction from your income tax, but if you're in the 25% bracket only 25% of that half comes back to you in the form of lower federal income tax. |
