The paperwork is another schedule to attach to your tax return. It is a bit of a pain to complete, but not all that difficult.And no, FATCA does nothing to prevent claiming the credit. In fact, what I've found to be the main issue with FATCA is that foreign banks, etc. don't want to deal with US citizens, since the requirements it imposes on them are so onerous. subfan |
