They do the same precautions for HIVThe Republican panic over Ebola reminds me of the similar panic over aids in the 80s. We heard people thinking they can get it from a spoon that an HIV infected person used and you had EMT and fire departments saying they would refuse to accommodate HIV infected emergency cases. What's been said about Ebola is that it could mutate into an airborne virus but that's not likely. I remember hearing that same thing about HIV and it never happened. Any virus can mutate, sure, but when they add the "not likely" stipulation that's exactly what it means. One's own doctor will present evidence the exact same way and we don't panic. Some people really need to go back to high school science and study this time. Your pal, Fred |
