In any event, if some country decided to perpetuate a genocide against Italians, Italy would likely expand its immigration rules to any such person who might be swept up by such a genocide. "Italians" are people who are already citizens of Italy or closely related enough that they'd readily qualify for citizenship anyway. If someone launched a persecution campaign against people descended from ancient Romans, and someone else launched an identical persecution campaign against people descended from Aztecs, would Italy change its immigration rules on behalf of the former while excluding the latter and justify the double standard by claiming a right of Romans to return to Rome? |
