fiogf49gjkf0d Isolated incidences of "public" schools in Massachusetts of all places (Benjamin Franklin dropped out of the Latin School, BTW; most likely a good thing for him since he was far more successful in Philly) and other isolated incidents is not comparable to the massive shift away from private/home education towards government-imposed compulsory public education from the late 1840s onward—coinciding with the publication of the Communist Manifesto. Compared to the private schools, the public schools are not places of education but places of indoctrination.
