When I was in Honduras this summer I rode on an old school bus that the driver had decorated elaborately. The nose had the Start and Stripes waving proudly painted on it. On the hood was a portrait of Che Gueverra. While this seemed contradictory at first glance, I think it says a lot about attitudes about the U.S. overseas. Many admire our ideals of freedom and would love to see them spread. At the same time, they don't necessarily want us to rule over them, either. (How could they, if they love freedom?)
