Ted Cruz may be a citizen under statute, but he is also by birth a dual national, and I don't think the founders meant for anyone with a potential foreign allegiance to become President.It doesn't matter. He is a natural born citizen within the meaning of Article II, and therefore eligible for the presidency. And different founding fathers intended different things. In any event, a person cannot be deprived of his rights as a United States citizen due to actions entirely out of his control. If Barack Obama were eligible for Kenyan citizenship by virtue of his father, you would be singing a different tune. |
