And in the absence of evidence I would also not assume it is the official position of the Roman Catholic Church. I do believe that it is the personal opinion of quite a few priests. I vaguely remember having heard sermons suggesting that "render unto Caesar" implies an obligation for most Catholics to participate in an appropriate way in the secular world. It might even be taught that way in some seminaries and/or some Catholic schools. |
