Conservatives are completely opposed to the idea of personal freedom (for average people, at any rate). They believe every single belief, thought, and action ought to be controlled and regulated by authority, whether that authority be a church, a rich person, or a government. As such, the idea of personal freedom confuses them; their "authorities" told them that abortion is a BAD THING that no one should do, and since the left disagrees, they assume the left must believe that abortion is a GOOD THING that everyone should do. |
