What guarantee that the militant leadership will be changed after all that?

There are never any guarantees of anything and it's absurd to expect them.

How do you know that's the main motivation for the animosity, and not "I need to kill you because you humiliated bigger Arab militaries multiple times in battle already?"

That's the sort of motivation that's likely to drive political leaders and other "elites" but less likely to be a factor for people more concerned with daily survival.
