You have to remember that the Emperor Constantine allowed Christianity to to become legal in the Roman empire. In addition to the First Council of Nicea, he presided over many bishops' minor councils when they were assembling the New Testament. To appease the Romans and to make Christianity easier to accept, the role of the Romans in Holy Week was probably whitewashed. Notice that on Palm Sunday, when Jesus entered Jerusalem, there was no Roman reaction in the scriptures? ? A king for the Jews to challenge Rome? You mean to tell me that Pilate never took notice of what happened on Palm Sunday? yes, jesus had jewish enemies, who feared for their loss of power. But, don't blame a whole religion/race for this! |
