I've heard all the anecdotes about how effective Israeli security is— and I've also heard the stories of random people being physically strip-searched and laptops being destroyed on the assumption that they're bombs. Not to mention the IDF soldiers advocating genocide.When all of America panicked after 9/11, I was one of the relatively few to remain rational (despite being all of 14 at the time) so I'm inclined to think I can tolerate a few risks without rushing to give up basic freedoms in the name of safety. And that's assuming I'm not one of the people in the "wrong" demographic who "have" to be locked up without charges or trial in the name of safety. |
