Well the conservatives can go sit on a biscuit. They're the ones denying that kind of support to the hard-working citizens in the first place.

I suspect most people would rather have a lower risk of being the victim of a crime and lower taxes (since crime and prisons are socially expensive) even if it means resources are spent rehabilitating criminals in a manner that some nutjob can turn into a talking point.

Norway. "Luxury" prisons. Low recidivism.
